Dr. Maria Raquel Freire and Dr. Sofia José Santos, Professors of International Relations (IR) at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Coimbra and Researchers at the Center for Social Studies (CES) in Portugal, have coordinated the CES Summer School on Technology, Big Data and International Relations, held between the 28th of June and the 2nd of July, 2021. The school critically explored the epistemological and methodological possibilities big data and the Internet of things (IoT) bring to IR while questioning how far the technology that allowed their advent has been revolutionizing the world we live in. Partners in the MEDIATIZED EU project Dr. Tanya Lokot (Dublin City University) and Dr. Lika Tsuladze (Center for Social Sciences and Tbilisi State University) were also part of the Teaching Team.
