Our podcast episode #3 brings an interview with Dr. Lika Tsuladze, Executive Director of the Center for Social Sciences (CSS) and Associate Professor at Tbilisi State University. Dr. Tsuladze was interviewed by Dr. Samuel Doveri Vesterbye, Director of the European Neighborhood Council (ENC), and she guides us through her team’s research progress as of May 2023, covering the latest analysis of Georgia’s attitudes vis-à-vis the European Union (EU).

The study begins with an overview of key antecedents, namely the Eastern Neighborhood project since 2009 and then the signing of the Association Agreement in 2014, Dr. Tsuladze explains. According to Dr. Tsuladze, a steady rate of 80% of the population have been found to support the European integration project in the country.

The CSS team then embarked on research on elite perceptions, investigating how political and media actors in Georgia see and frame this project. These aspects are being assessed through media analysis and interviews, which are crucial elements in MEDIATIZED EU’s mixed-methods approach in its current stage.

Watch or listen to the interview for more details on the different research phases and on the Georgian team’s findings this far.
